Marawi City- It was a day filled with anticipation and excitement for the eleven (11) Peoples Organization/Indigenous Peoples Organization (POs/IPOs) of Marawi-Saguiaran, Taraka, Malaig, and West sub watersheds in Lake Lanao River Basin (LLRB) after having successfully complied to the rigid requirements set by ADB and DENR to implement their NRM subprojects. The loan funds amounting to P8,942, 648.01 were awarded last February 28, 2019 within the Mindanao State University (MSU) campus in Marawi City. The ceremony was graced by Deputy PASu Forester Ismail Ambola, Deputy Project Director Moises Butic, Forester Arnulfo T. Deputy PASu Ambola expressed his gratitude and joy to the POs/IPOs who first received the 50% loan release. Meanwhile, RPCO Osio admired the perseverance and hard work of the project staff in working hand in hand with the POs/IPOs to accomplish their requirements. Their performance for helping the office and POs/IPOs was very exceptional, an indication of their commitment in attaining the objectives of the project. He ended his message with a quote, “Today you are millionaires but tomorrow and beyond, you will become billionaires through this project”.

For his part DPD Moises Butic reiterated the message of Director Nonito M. Tamayo reminding the INREMP beneficiaries that the financial assistance extended by ADB and IFAD are loans thus it must be used wisely for the benefit of all Filipino citizens now and in the coming years. He challenged the POs/IPOs to nurture their projects well to attain INREMP’s objectives of increased productivity and environmental security.
